Shah Rukh Khan is widely celebrated not only for his acting prowess but also for his eloquence and charisma off-screen. An old video of the ‘King of Bollywood’ throwing light on his 2005 film “Paheli” opposite Rani Mukherji is doing rounds on the internet and has caught the attention of Richa Chadha.
The “Heeramandi” actor—who recently became a mother—lauded SRK, calling him “intellectually exciting.” In a post on X, Chadha wrote, “Is there anyone else as eloquent, intellectually exciting as this dimpled megastar? Wish for more films like Paheli so he can do more interviews like this, that give us a glimpse into his world view. #Mohabbat.”
In the viral video, SRK is heard highlighting the theme of “Paheli” to the interviewer. “Paheli was a folktale written about the emancipation of women. About the right of women to choose what they want. About the right of women to live the life as beautifully and wonderfully as everyone else does,” he says in the video.
“Paheli was a film about a woman who is lonely, though she is married. She comes across another personality, an illusion, a ghost—who offers her all the love she had imagined she should get and deserve—and she makes the choice that she is going to stay with the ghost,” SRK continues.
“The fact that the other man is a ghost is a tongue-in-cheek statement that for a woman a perfect man is only an illusion,” the “Dunki” actor adds.
